The homicide unit is investigating after a man was shot and crashed his vehicle in Mississauga overnight.
Peel Regional Police (PRP) officers were called to the Dixie Road and Derry Road area at around 1:45 a.m. for reports of a single-vehicle collision.
One adult male was located at the scene and transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
No other injuries were reported.
PRP Const. Richard Chin told reporters on Monday that there was some sort of altercation beforehand between the victim and a suspect or suspects, leading to the shooting.
“He attempted to flee the area and consequently ended up crashing [his vehicle],” Chin said.
Police said its homicide unit has taken over the investigation. There is no suspect information at this time.
Southbound Dixie Road was closed between Derry Road East and Midway Boulevard but has since reopened.
